| Q: How do SAC bags mount on my bike? |
A: Most SAC bags have a pocket on the back of the bag that slips over your sissy bar. We call it the "sissy bar pocket." The pocket slips over your backrest. There are also two straps with sturdy plastic buckles which can connect under your blinkers. These straps hold the bag down and prevent it from flying off the sissy bar. We have other specialized bags that require no sissy bar. Some of such are our rack bags, saddle bags and handle bar bags.
|
Q: Is any hardware required to mount your bags?
|
A: No. However, our sissy bar mounted bags are not recommended for use without either a luggage rack or a passenger seat for the bag to rest upon. If you have a special situation such as this, call us to discuss some possible solutions.
|
Q: Are your sissy bar pockets a universal fitment?
|
A: They can be-- it depends on what you want. We currently offer multi-fit applications (bags with multiple pocket sizes on them that can fit on just about anything) and single-fit pockets (bags with one, customized pocket made to fit only one size of backrest). Some riders prefer the scalability of having multiple pockets, while some prefer the look of the one, custom-fit pocket.
|
Q: How do I know if a SAC will fit on my bike?
|
A: We can make any bag to fit on any backrest-- no matter what kind of bike you ride. Just tell us what you're riding, and we'll make the bag to suit your backrest.
|
| Q: I want to buy a single-pocket bag online, but I don't see my bike model listed. What do I do? |
A: Just choose the "My Backrest Is Not Listed Here" fitment. When you choose this option, you will be prompted to enter the dimensions of your backrest. It's all we need to know to make a custom fitment for whatever bike you may be riding.
|
| Q: What if I change backrests some day? Do I have to buy a whole new SAC? |
A: No. As a free service, we will alter your backrest to a new fitment upon request. Here is the procedure for obtaining this service:
1. Take down the following four measurements of your new backrest:
a. The width of your backrest at its widest point.
b. The height of your backrest from top to bottom.
c. The thickness of your backrest, to include the bar and the pad.
d. The distance from your luggage rack to the top of your pad. Or, if you have no luggage rack, the distance from the horizontal plane of the passenger seat to the top of your pad.
2. With these dimensions and your contact information, ship your bag to:
SAC
Attn: Alterations
2180 Elmwood Avenue
Buffalo, NY 14216
We will ship the bags back to you on UPS ground on our dime. If you need faster shipping, we can upgrade your shipping if you agree to pay the difference in the cost. The turn around time for this procedure varies according to the season. Ask before you send if you are planning a trip.
Please note: we can put a new pocket on your bag, but we cannot put on a multi-fit pocket.
